Tips for making-better-grilled-cheese-sandwiches
62How to make a great grilled cheese sandwich
Laura Werlin has written a book, Great Grilled Cheese It is pretty amazing how someone can write a whole book just on this topic. I love cheese and grilled cheese sandwiches are one of my favorite lunches. I am getting hungry just writing this article
She has written some tips on making a great cheese sandwich.
Grate the cheese
Can't argue with this tip. The cheese melts much better when you grate it.
Add lots of cheese
Give your arteries a workout by heaping on the cheese.
Embrace the ooze
Get messy with it and don't fret.
Bread
Use your favorite bread and don't slice it too thick. Flatten the bread with a spatula to help with the "ooze".
Butter
Give your arteries an even bigger workout with a healthy slab of butter making sure you don't leave any bit uncovered. Laura also suggests using salted butter - wow, even more healthier now.
Cooking
Laura suggests using a non-stick skillet, but I much prefer using a toasted sandwich maker. Why try to beat convenience.
Additions
I am surprised she didn't mention black pepper. I love good sprinkling of black pepper on the cheese, or if you want to add a bit of spice, a touch of tobasco.
